In a city replete with iconic structures and enduring institutions, The Cincinnati Observatory occupies a singular space in our collective imagination. What does “brand” mean to a place of such architectural, scientific and historical significance, and how should we approach altering it? The answer is slowly and intentionally, only after listening and learning, only after experimenting and collaborating. Our project with the Observatory resulted in a strategic as well as creative reboot with the goal of deepening relationships and increasing engagement with key audiences: parents and their scientifically enthralled children, astronomy and scientific history buffs, and architectural and cultural preservationists.
Decibel Korean Fried Chicken
Decibel Korean Fried Chicken is the gut child of two of the hardest working dudes we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Founders Kam Siu and Mapi De Veyra came to us with a recipe for lip-smacking, ear-drum shattering, twice-fried Korean-style fried chicken and told us they wanted to build a brand that they could take on the road. Naming was easy—what’s loud and hits different: and so Decibel was born.

The result is a timeless identity salt and peppered with bright surprises.

After performing research into the competitive landscape, building customer profiles around fundamental needs, and auditing her properties and booking experience, we presented a series of identity design options that focused on combining the home and the heart.
Dear Restaurant & Butchery
Building and launching a restaurant is a tall order no matter how you shake it. How about adding in a butchery? And a private events program? And a delivery program? And a wine club? And a global pandemic that’s decimating the restaurant industry? Dear was an act of bravery and creativity the likes of which our firm has never known. We did everything. Strategy, identity, marketing, technology platforms, collateral, signage, and worked with bad-ass interior designer Michelle Pinales to bring the vision to life in the iconic Hyde Park Square space.

The good people at Lifetime Resources—a nonprofit located in Southeastern Indiana that provides health and human services to the area’s elderly population—reached out to BS in need of a refreshed look for Catch-a-Ride, their free on-demand public transportation service. Feeling that the identity was tired, dated, and unrecognizable, Lifetime challenged us to redesign the brand around efforts to increase awareness and ridership. Through explorations of the visual language of transportation, we landed on a simple and striking logo and identity that easily communicates the message that Catch-a-Ride is on the move.

Government Strategies Group
Regional government relations and lobbying firm, Government Strategies Group, has a solid reputation for extensive knowledge of the legislative process and a dedicated hands-on approach to communication. They possess a general “get-it-doneness” buoyed by friendly personalities that you just want to be around. The problem: their former website did not match the quality of their reputation, the prowess of their projects, or the breadth and depth of their services.
We developed a graphic identity, and designed and launched a custom website for a razor-sharp consultancy focused on bringing high-level talent to public sector problem solving. One of the chief insights that drove the project was their need to display case studies and white papers in a way that is as sophisticated as their work.

As he began to pursue future investment and acquisition opportunities for his closed private equity fund, he realized he didn’t have a platform with which to engage business owners. Apricus is a word that means warmed by the sun—a reflection of the principal’s optimism as well as his scientific knowledge. To connect back to Eli's portfolio, we intentionally designed the Apricus identity to connect visually with Eli’s first acquisition, Empower Manufacturing.

We continue to help ANYbotics develop case studies for their content marketing strategy.

We connected with founders Bob Bonder and Bryant Goulding and planned a project to distill Rhinegeist's culture down to something their sales team could hold in their hands.
