Owner and operator, Sarah Dworak has an infectious laugh and generous personality. Perhaps as much as her love of food and drink is her love for her Ukrainian heritage. Our goal was to create a brand strategy and visual identity for Sarah’s Eastern-European restaurant and bar built on stories, memories, and love. With the conviviality and vibrancy of a zakuska table, the baltic answer to the smorgasbord, as our guiding light, we sought to create a brand with a strong taste of old country.

Wodka Bar embodies a modern interpretation of an idealized past, the memory of a memory projected onto a vibrant future. Inspired by Abstract Expressionism, Eastern European folk art, Polish embroidery and wood carvings, the brand seeks to bring the look of old country to every part of the Wodka Bar experience.

Identity

With our beautiful falling bird to anchor the primary mark, we set about creating custom wood-block artwork, folk-inspired illustrations, and used foil stamp and paper nesting techniques to achieve layers of texture that embrace like a shot of vodka on a cold night.

This restaurant wasn’t James Beard-nominated Chef Salazar’s flagship restaurant. On the contrary; it was built to wear sneakers. Goose & Elder needed a brand that felt familiar to Cincinnati locals, but not boring. It needed to feel casual, but not sloppy. We gave it just enough polish to signal that intent, and not a drop more.

The challenge was to build a brand that worked just as well on a linen menu as it did on a label in the butcher’s case. We leaned into structure, weight, and simplicity. The result is a system that bridges fine dining and primal function without trying to be clever about it.\

Ripple Wine Bar's owners envisioned a spot where wine novices and aficionados alike could feel at home. They asked for a brand that exudes warmth and wit. We responded with an identity that's as inviting as their pour.
